Jasper Collings

Jasper Collings is a recording project created by songwriter Aaron Carman, built around a simple idea: a good song should still begin with a person, an instrument and something worth saying.

Every Jasper Collings song starts with Aaron - usually a guitar, a microphone and a rough vocal performance. He writes the words and music, works out the melody and arrangement, and records the original demo that becomes the foundation for the finished track.

From there, things get a little less traditional.

Jasper grew out of Aaron's experimentation with new ways of producing music. Using contemporary recording and AI-assisted production tools, those original performances are developed into the voice, instrumentation and sonic world of Jasper Collings. It's an iterative process - often reworking a song again and again, sometimes down to small details, until the finished recording sounds like what Aaron heard in his head when he wrote it. The finished recordings are mastered by engineer Josh Gilliland.

The result lives somewhere between old-fashioned songwriting and decidedly modern record-making.

Musically, Jasper draws from Americana, country, blues and roots rock - the kind of music where characters matter, guitars still have some dirt on them, and a song can be funny, bruised, restless or sentimental without trying too hard to explain itself.

Jasper's 2026 debut introduced that sound through songs including Bad Bad Habits, Old Kentucky Farm and Eye on the Horizon, finding an audience largely through listeners discovering, saving and sharing the music on their own.

The next chapter begins with Hard Row to Hoe, the first single from a second Jasper Collings album planned for 2027. It's a bigger, grittier extension of the project - while keeping the thing that hasn't changed since the beginning:
